Paperwork
As with a visit to any medical professional,  there will be a bit of paperwork to complete.  I try to keep this as simple as possible.  At the time that you make an appointment for your initial visit I will send you a packet with information booklets about acupuncture and two pages to be completed and returned before we begin.  One is literally name & phone information; the second is permission for me to treat you.  This way you don't have to waste your precious time either.

What Happens in an Initial Visit
I ask for a two-hour block of time because there is a lot of ground to cover.  We will go through a detailed intake, pulse and tongue diagnosis and your first acupuncture treatment.  Be sure to NOT brush your tongue beforehand nor eat anything which discolors the mouth an hour before your treatment.  You may eat something light,  but it is recommended that you come with neither an empty nor full stomach.  Often I will discuss foods with you for dietary shifts to help you clear your condition.

Time
After your Initial visit,  future sessions run about an hour and a quarter.  Please plan to be on time so that you get the most use of your time.  When people are very tardy,  it is not fair to punish the patient who comes next.  I know traffic happens.  Thank you for your consideration.  If you are caught in traffic,  please let me know so that I can juggle schedules.

Is Acupuncture Safe?
For many years since the Clean Needle Act was passed,  we have used only individually wrapped sterile acupuncture needles.  They are disposed of immediately in a Sharps container after use and we do not reuse needles in the United States.  I tend to use a very fine gauge needle that is the equivalent of one to three strands of hair.  Often a patient will feel barely a tap or not even feel the insertion.  After all the needles are inserted I will check that you can feel that they are there.  You will rest with the needles retained for anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes, depending on your condition.

So Then What Happens?
Many people find that Acupuncture is remarkably relaxing;  many people drift off to meditation or sleep.

Cost
Because of the time involved,  your Initial Visit which lasts two hours costs a flat rate of $110.  Following visits cost $75 and run an hour and a quarter.  I charge by the session, not by how many modalities I use.  So I may add heat,  linements ,  massage,  salves,  moxibustion,  gua sha,  or cupping.  You are not charge by the number of modalities.  However,  the cost of your Herbs are not included because we have Nevada state tax on them.  Herbs can cost anywhere from @ $15 to almost $40 depending on the contents.  I use formulas that come either in tablet or tincture form so that they are easy to use and easy to carry with you.  I accept cash,  check,  Visa,  MasterCard,  and debit cards.  No insurance assignment accepted.

Post Acupuncture Care
Please refrain from heavy exercise,  sexual activity and the consumption of alcohol or recreational drugs within 6  hours of treatment,  as they will interfere with its  effectiveness.  Please refrain from entering a shower,  Jacuzzi, sauna or pool for 6 hours after treatment.  Let it set like Jell-O.  In the next morning you can take a long hot shower.  Please rest after your session,  especially on your first few visits.  Acupuncture is an excellent adjunct therapy to massage or physical therapy.  If these treatments are on the same day as your acupuncture session,  please be sure all practitioners are aware of this so that treatments can be adjusted to enhance your therapy.

Directions
The Address is 2840 East Flamingo,  Suite D.
The office is in the Flamingo Lakes Building on East Flamingo between McCleod and Eastern,  (about 1.5 blocks east of Desert Spring Hospital.)  If you are coming from the North or from Henderson,  I recommend you take 95,  Exit 69 at East Flamingo,  and head toward the Las Vegas Strip.  Cross three lights: Sandhill,  Pecos,  then McCleod.  As soon as you have, it is the second building on the right hand side,  the north side of Flamingo.  There are two driveways and four buildings in this compound.  Please take the second driveway,  the one that is closest to the Strip.  Come half way down the length of the west side of the building,  which is called 2840.  Your landmark is two street lamps. Immediately after, you will see my office which is Suite D.
If you are coming from West or Anthem,  you can take Eastern to Flamingo and go east to do a U-turn at the light at McCleod.   If you wish to come across on Flamingo,  allow plenty of time for traffic lights.
